Nadal cruised to victory in Beijing, winning 6-2, 6-1 as Kyrgios fell foul of umpire Mohamed Lahyani for use of bad language.
The Australian was handed a penalty point after several angry exchanges, and the 22-year-old failed to regain his composure throughout the rest of the match.
Both Kyrgios and Nadal received cuddly toy mascots at the same time as their trophies following the final.
Nadal popped his out of sight inside the winner’s cup, but Kyrgios was forced to hang on to the green toy as well as his second place shield during the remainder of the presentation ceremony.
The maverick ace understandably looked disgruntled following the final, but did manage a smile for the cameras before trudging off court.
