‘EU will end!’ Catalonia independence will finish ‘panic-stricken’ Brussels, says Ferrari

Speaking on his LBC show, Mr Ferrari said it was “extraordinary” the Brussels bloc watched by as hundreds of Catalans were beaten and shot at with rubber bullets.

Mr Ferrari said: “It is quite extraordinary that the European Union, and more importantly the European Commission, which is there to represent the interests and health and well-being of European citizens, the European Commission has watched as more than 800 Catalans were beaten.

“They had rubber bullets fired at them, one man was blinded in one eye, another man had a heart attack, fortunately lived, one elderly woman was dragged out of a polling booth by her hair.

“The European Commission, not only has it failed to say anything about the treatment, it’s actually talked about how illegal the referendum was in the first place.

The EU is scrambling to avoid a Catalexit, which would see the bloc disintegrate further after an already-chaotic 18 months. 

More than two million Catalan voters braved police brutality, which left 800 injured, to choose independence for Catalonia in Sunday’s disputed referendum, according to Catalan authorities.
