Anthem is a stunning looking action-RPG from the Mass Effect makers that was unveiled to much fanfare on the Xbox One X by Microsoft.
The E3 trailer showcased a vast, dangerous and futuristic sci-fi world where players take control of exosuit wielding warriors.
Players use these jet-pack powered exosuits to fly around the lush, green world of Anthem, where huge, fearsome monsters lurk.
The Anthem trailer showcased the game’s stunning graphics, with BioWare later revealing that they had been working on it for the past four years.
And just under three months after the game was first revealed, the game’s director has revealed fans will be getting a beta period.

BioWare’s Jonathan Warner was asked by a fan if Anthem would be getting a beta period like Mass Effect: Andromeda, Wccftech reported.
Warner replied: “Yeah we’ll have a beta! #PrepareForAdventure”.
Speaking about a Anthem beta release date, he added: “Remember, we are still a distance out. Too soon for details but will provide more when the time is right.”
It’s unclear whether the Anthem beta period will be an open beta or a closed beta.
And, as Warner said, an announcement on the Anthem beta release date is a while off.
Anthem is penciled in for a release date in late 2018 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
So it’s unlikely you’ll be playing the Anthem beta anytime soon.
Soon after Anthem was unveiled at E3 2017, BioWare dropped some major story details about the game.
BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn compared Anthem to movie mega hits Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He also said Anthem, unlike Mass Effect, would be less concerned with grounded, scientific reasons for what is happening in the futuristic world.
He said: “The story is that you are part of humanity, and you’re a member of a group called the ‘Freelancers’, who are out there to protect and save humanity on an alien planet far away.
“It’s in a genre we call ‘science-fantasy’, it’s very much like Star Wars, very much like the Marvel universe where you see a lot of amazing things happening but we don’t worry too much about why they’re happening or how they’re happening, the science of it.
“Mass Effect is more of a real hardcore science-fiction IP, this one is much more about just having fun in a game world that is lush and exotic and really sucks you in.”
Anthem is a shared world experience where players go online to play with one another.
In the aftermath of the big E3 2017 reveal, an EA bigwig also said that BioWare had been working on Anthem for the past four years.
EA also intend for gamers to play Anthem for the next ten years – suggesting BioWare could have big DLC plans in place.
EA’s Patrick Söderlund said: “It’s an action, open world RPG, a social game where you and your friends go out on quests and journeys.
“It’s a game that we’ve been working on for almost four years now, and it’s a game that we see, once we launch it next year, will be the start of, I think maybe a ten-year journey for us.”
