‘We’re going to slit your throat’ Barcelona terror suspect threatened in jail

The prisoners at Soto del Real prison in Madrid screamed insults at the terror suspect as he made his way inside the jail after appearing in court.

Mr Oukabir allegedly formed part of the terror cell that left 15 dead and over 120 injured after a van ploughed into pedestrians during a terror attack in a busy tourist area of Barcelona.

Inmates screamed death threats from their cells as the handcuffed prisoner made his way inside with guards.

“We’re gonna slit your throat when you go out on the patio” one yelled out of his window.

Another shouted: F****g terrorist!”

Wearing a white polo shirt, the Spanish citizen, of Moroccan origin, looked frightened as guards led him through prison grounds.

The prison’s newest inmate was allegedly among the terror cell which caused mayhem in Barcelona when a vehicle careered into terrified pedestrians in the busy tree-lined promenade, one of the most popular parts of the city.

Following the van attack, Oukabir’s passport was found at the scene.

He quickly handed himself in to police in his home town of Ripoll.

Oukabir told a judge he had rented the van that was used in the attack but said he thought the car would be used to move furniture.

But the judge flatly refused to belive him and said there was ““rational and well-founded indications” of his involvement in the attack.

Police rounded up suspects, but have released a second suspect a week on from the attack as the investigation continues.

At least eight of the 12-man terror squad are dead.

Salh El Karib was set free but must report to the authorities weekly.

Judge Fernando Andreu ruled Karib’s passport should be confiscated and he is required to show up in court once a week while he remains under investigation.

The police discovered information that suggests Karib purchased the plane tickets for Oukibar.

Karib also allegedly bought tickets for Abdelbaki Es Satty – the Imam who allegedly masterminded the attacks.

Satty died in a bomb blast at the house where the terrorists were making bombs for other attacks in Alcan.

Karib, who worked in a cybercafe in Ripoll, the Catalan town where the extremist cell was allegedly formed, had been in police custody since investigators accused him of purchasing plane tickets for some of its members.

On Tuesday, the judge freed another suspect with similar restrictions and sent two others to jail.

Eight more people connected to the attacks are dead, six of them shot by the police.

Oukabir has been placed in solitary confinement for his own protection.
