Dianne Buswell’s Strictly partner Dev Griffin explains that ‘blunder’: ‘Cant believe it’

Dianne Buswell, 30, and Dev Griffin, 34, performed the Foxtrot on Strictly Come Dancing last night, and received praise from the judges.

But in the video before they took to the dance floor, Dev admitted he didn’t know what the Foxtrot was.

Dev’s co-star, Jordan North, teased him about the moment on his BBC Radio 1 show today.

Jordan mocked: “What about the bit where you didn’t know what the famous dance is.”

Admitting to his mistake, Dev replied: “Ah yeah, that might have been a bit of a blunder.”

Jordan scolded: “You can’t go on Strictly and say you don’t know what a Foxtrot is!”

The Strictly contestant replied: “Who knows what the Foxtrot is!”

“I know what the Foxtrot is,” Jordan replied. “It’s a type of dance, a sexy dance.”

However, Dev knocked him for not getting it wrong and corrected: “No, its not! It’s ballroom, how embarrassing!”

Jordan explained he was actually thinking of the Tango, to which Dev attempted to redeem himself and said: “I’ve heard of it, I just didn’t know what it was.

“If she [Dianne] had said to me this week we’re dancing the Macarena and Cha Cha Slide, I would have been like I know that one!”

Dev finally admitted: “I should have googled it before hand, you’re right.”

Speaking about his performance, he said: “It went surprisingly well, I still can’t believe it, can’t believe how well it went!”

Following their performance last night, Dianne praised Dev for all the hard work he put in to their performance.

Alongside a picture of them dancing, Dianne wrote: “So proud of this guy! From your first day of training with me to now you are un recognisable that frame that footwork!”

She continued: “Great start dev I’m so excited to teach you more and more and more, also thank you all so much for the support and lovely comments I have been reading them all appreciate it xxx @dev @bbcstrictly.”

Whilst the show was live, Dianne’s boyfriend, Joe Sugg, who was her celebrity partner last year, watched from home and gushed over her appearance.

He tweeted: “Sorry Soppy tweet but how beautiful does @dbuzz6589 look so proud.”

Dianne and Joe reached the final last year but were beaten to the Glitterball trophy by Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One next Saturday.
