Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian doesn’t need to worry about the mistake he made in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Southampton last weekend.
That’s according to Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, who believes Adrian just needs more time to adapt.
Adrian, who joined after being released by West Ham this summer, made his debut for the club in Liverpool’s 4-1 win over Norwich on the opening day of the season after Alisson went off with a calf injury.
The Spaniard then made himself a hero in Liverpool’s Super Cup win over Chelsea after he saved Tammy Abraham’s decisive penalty in the shootout.
And although Adrian made a mistake against Southampton just days after that, passing the ball straight into Danny Ings’ path and allowing the striker to score, Atchterberg doesn’t see the need to make a mountain out a molehill.

“You don’t make a big deal out of it,” Achterberg told The Athletic.
“I don’t need to tell a 32-year-old whether it was good or bad, he knows himself.
“He didn’t do it on purpose and it didn’t cost us. We just talk about the positive things and move on.”
Atchterberg also alluded to the fact that Adrian perhaps wasn’t solely at fault for the goal that let the Saints back into an otherwise comfortable game.
“Of course he made the wrong decision but it’s a team game,” he added.
“Players could have dropped quicker and created better angles, he could have passed it out wide or cleared it long. You need to take the right option.
“Adrian is a pretty calm and cool guy. I think it will be all good.
“The Spanish way is playing out, so there are no concerns over his ability with the ball at his feet. We’ve got a lot of belief in him. He knows what the Premier League is all about.”
Liverpool’s next clash is against Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening, who have also won their opening two games of the Premier League season.
