Windows 10 boost and this upgrade may convince you to ditch your ageing PC

Windows 10 users are about to get a shiny new laptop to play with.

Samsung has just announced the launch of its “game-changing” new Galaxy Book S which arrives with some pretty impressive features including the ability to always stay connected to the web via Ultra-fast Gigabit LTE.

That technology means even when you’re away from Wi-Fi this computer will be able to stay online and download files at superfast speeds.

Along with that connectivity, there’s also the power of Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8cx compute platform.

Samsung says that Snapdragon 8cx elevates the Galaxy Book S above the Galaxy Book 2, with 40 per cent greater CPU performance, 80 per cent greater graphics performance and added memory bandwidth.

The Snapdragon 8cx, is also designed to be fan-less which means it will stay cool whilst being almost silent.

Another bonus of this chip is its incredible efficiency with Samsung boasting that users could experience up to 23 hours of battery life on a single charge.

Other features include a 13.3-inch 10-point multi-touch display, touch-to-wake capabilities which instantly switches things on and stereo speakers which have been tuned by AKG.

If design is something that’s important to you then you’ll find the Galaxy Book S is made from a lightweight and sturdy anodised aluminium frame with the device weighing less than 1KG.

“At Samsung, we believe that true innovation is only possible through an open, collaborative approach where partners are aligned and motivated to break down barriers and redefine the computing experience,” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.

“Galaxy Book S combines the best mobility features Samsung has to offer with Microsoft’s leading productivity solutions and Qualcomm Technologies’ performance capabilities to deliver the best mobile productivity experience available in a mobile device today.”

Galaxy Book S will be available in two shades, Earthy Gold and Mercury Gray beginning this autumn in select markets – there’s currently no UK prices available but expect more news in the coming weeks.
