Croatia festival fire: Zrce Beach evacuated as blaze rips through Fresh Island event

Thousands of people evacuated the hip hop festival after a fire sparked in the nearby forest, according to reports. The Papaya nightclub has also been evacuated due to fire. Huge plumes of smoke coated the festival which draws in the genre’s biggest acts.

Festivalgoer Kristijan Rovan, from Slovenia, told Mirror Online she had been evacuated from Papaya nightclub, where US rapper Tyga was expected to play later this morning.

She said: “The fire is taking place in a forest near the beach and so far it’s only the forest that’s on fire.

“The problem for the firefighters is that it is very windy, so the fire is spreading quickly.”

Tyga has reportedly cancelled his performance at the festival.

“There are buses evacuating people away from the area.”

Some festival-goers are demanding a refund as “half a festival isn’t on.”

“Toga didn’t even get to perform, sort it out.

“Didn’t do this travel for nothing.”
