Carol Kirkwood: BBC Breakfast weather star speaks out on overtime pay for Wimbledon

Carol Kirkwood, 58, has certainly been busy recently, presenting the weather on BBC Breakfast and also popping up during Wimbledon 2019 coverage.

Her appearance throughout the day on BBC has resulted in one viewer asking if Carol gets paid overtime for all the extra works she has been doing.

The fan cheekily asked: “Does @carolkirkwood get paid overtime during Wimbledon? #wimbledon.”

Carol replied alongside laughing crying emojis: “No!”

The fan responded, tagging BBC sports presenter, Rishi Persad: “Well I hope @RishiPersad1 is buying you a Pimms at least.”

Rishi said back to the viewer, Chris, who is a “freelance tennis tweeter”: “I would do if I had the sense and were allowed to back your selections at Wimbledon!”

On BBC Breakfast today, Carol met police dog, Ruby, at Wimbledon 2019.

The weather favourite shared some snaps of herself cuddling the pet pooch, and called her “adorable”.

Carol wrote: “Ruby is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE @BBCBreakfast xxx.”

However, the meteorologist may have soon changed her mind about Ruby as the dog took Carol for a run, live on-air.

Carol was talking to BBC Breakfast hosts, Dan Walker and Louise Minchin, in the studio when the dog ran off.

Holding the lead, the weather presenter was forced to follow the pooch, who was busy sniffing parts of the grounds.

Carol said whilst running away from the camera: “No, we’re going this way! He’s so cute.”

Before she shouted: “Slow down!”

Watching the hilarious event unfold, Louise laughed and said: “Oh Carol, honestly that’s one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a ling time.”

Dan added: “That is a dog taking a human for a walk!”

Elsewhere on the programme, Dan got a little flustered as he got Carol’s name wrong.

Speaking about Carol and sports reporter, Sally Nugent, he said: “I’d love to see Sarol and Cally — Carol, did I say that the wrong way?”

Giggling at her co-host mixing up their colleagues’ names, Louise exclaimed: “Sarol and Cally? Who are they?!”

BBC Breakfast airs tomorrow on BBC One at 6am.
