Piers Morgan: GMB host speaks out on OTHER jobs after Susanna Reid addresses departure

The presenter, 54, responded after lyricist and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s longtime collaborator Tim Rice, 74, shared five of the previous jobs he held before finding success. Writing in view of his 6.63 million Twitter followers, Piers Morgan revealed his past jobs included bartending and being a tree-feller. “5 jobs I’ve had: 1, security guard in auction taller. 2, bagger of mushroom compost,” he said. “3, tree-feller and landscape gardner assistant. 4, village pub barman. 5, insurance clerk at Lloyds of London.”(sic)

Piers started his career as a tabloid journalist and went on to be editor of the News of the World.

He has since moved into television, hosting Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, acting as judge on the early series of Britain’s Got Talent and, currently, presenting Good Morning Britain.

His Twitter post promoted many social media users to follow suit and share their five former job roles.

Fans also reacted in the comments section, with one teasing: “Don’t worry – you’ll soon find something you are good at.”

“Imagine being taken out of an auction by Piers,” another laughed, while a third added: “Things I never would have though.”

Elsewhere, earlier this month, Susanna Reid addressed the possibility of Piers Morgan leaving GMB.

“There is only one Piers Morgan,” she told British GQ. “But no one is completely irreplaceable, no matter who they are.”

Both Piers and Susanna Reid, 48, appear firmly settled in the roles on GMB, with no suggestion they will be departing the programme any time soon.

Piers has been on a break from Good Morning Britain over Easter and, although his co-host Susanna returned to the programme at the beginning of the week, he is still enjoying some time off.

Susanna Reid spoke out on the reason for Piers Morgan’s absence from GMB earlier this week, joking it was due to her beloved Crystal Palace beating his team, Arsenal, 3-2 in the Premiere League on Sunday.

She shared a screenshot of messages from her colleague with her 582,000 Twitter followers which showed her telling him: “Big day today.”

“Huge,” he replied, at which point she agreed: “Huge.”

However, after the final whistle blew, Piers once again messaged Susanna, this time saying: “I can’t talk to you. I am too enraged.”

“For people asking where @piersmorgan is this week, a possible explainer from my WhatsApp chat (me in green) on Sunday,” she captioned the picture, adding the hashtag: “#AFCvCPFC.”

Susanna made the move to GMB from BBC Breakfast in 2014, with Piers joining the team the following year.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
