The midfielder will make his first start for Liverpool since a £35million move from Arsenal in the club’s Carabao Cup third-round tie at Leicester tonight.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s progress stalled at Arsenal and he turned down a new contract to work under Klopp in the belief it can further his development on the pitch.
Klopp is confident the 24-year-old made the right call to join Liverpool and believes the player’s career can now move on an upward trajectory.
“Probably when Alex was 18 or 19 people thought he would be ‘the man’, as people think a lot of times pretty early,” said Klopp. “And immediately you put a rucksack on their back. That makes development not easy.
“A new start is very often a kind of relief. You are in a situation with your old club – and I don’t say this about Alex specifically – and you accept it and it is difficult to make the next step.

“It made complete sense for Alex to change club and to come here. He’s at a perfect age and is still able to make big steps.”
Leicester have sent a similar message to one of their own players, with manager Craig Shakespeare telling winger Demarai Gray to copy Cristiano Ronaldo.
“He needs to be playing regularly,” said Shakespeare.
“We know what his strengths are, one-versus-ones and dribbling but he has worked at the defensive side of the game and he’s quite willing to do that.
“People do get better with age. They do that because of their understanding of the game and Demarai’s no different.
“With a run of games and experience, that will come. Remember Cristiano Ronaldo. When he first came to England, people used to criticise him for the same things.
“If the opposition put two defenders against you and you’re trying to beat them all the time, then you have to find another solution.
“That’s what football is all about, finding the right solution for that given moment.”
