A post doing the rounds on Reddit claims to expose several details of the new movie in the Lucasfilm franchise, although it’s important to bear in mind that its authenticity is completely unverified at this point. Still, fans are enjoying soaking up the potential paths the film could take – and this latest report indicates that one of the new characters has had their role expanded as the production process has gone on.
According to Reddit user Temirblagg1, who claims to have multiple sources placed in and around filming at the Pinewood Studio set, it’s Dominic Monaghan’s new arrival.
The apparent leaker said: “The following is news that I have accumulated from various sources around the Pinewood set, this comes from crew members from the area.”
They added that Monaghan’s character was never initially supposed to make it past the first act of the film, but this has changed.
With the stakes sky-high for the third part of the trilogy, it’s not surprising that big deaths could be in the pipeline along the way – but it seems this particular one has perhaps been altered.

“Domenic [sic] Monaghan’s rebel character is named Arvyl – his character initially did not make it past the second act but he has been confirmed to appear late in the film,” the poster said.
Interestingly, Monaghan himself had said back when his casting was announced that he did not feature prominently in the first drafts of the script beyond even the first act – although he indicated that it was because his character hadn’t been fleshed out, not because he was to be killed off.
“J.J. [Abrams] is a friend of mine and he said to me that at some point I’d get the opportunity to read the script,” he told the Distraction Pieces podcast.
“[He told me], ‘Just be aware of the fact that there are massive sequences in Act Two, there are massive sequences in Act Three but because we’re shooting Act One first, I’ve put you in there and you seem to not be around as much in Act Two and Act Three but that’s because that’s what we’re doing first so I want you here, I want you invested.
“‘So read the script but just know there won’t be long until there’ll be a re-draft of those things and we’ll see you a little bit more’.
“So I read it, and the script is amazing and obviously there isn’t a lot I can say.”
This new leak also backs up another from late last year, which suggested Naomi Ackie is playing Lando Calrissian’s daughter.
Star Wars: Episode 9 is said to be coming to the end of the production process now, although John Boyega recently revealed he had shot a “shocking” moment.
Star Wars: Episode 9 is out in December.
