Nintendo Switch fans are hoping a January 2019 Nintendo Direct will drop today.
Rumours have long circulated that Nintendo are planning to hold a Nintendo Direct for January 2019 on the 10th of this month.
Nintendo has a history of holding their first Direct presentation of the year in January, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see one drop soon.
In 2018 a Nintendo Direct was held on Thursday January 11, so if the Switch games reveal does happen today it will be a similar time as last year.
The House of Mario typically announces in advance when a Nintendo Direct will take place so fans were hoping to have had official confirmation already.

However, so far there has been no official word on a Nintendo Direct for January 2019 taking place on the 10th – just rumours.
But there is still one reason for fans to remain hopeful that a Nintendo Direct could drop on January 10th.
Last year the Nintendo Direct held towards the start of January 2018 was a Nintendo Direct Mini.
And this Nintendo Direct dropped without warning on Thursday January 11 2018.
There was no confirmation prior to it being released that a Nintendo Direct Mini was getting released.
It simply went live on the Nintendo website and YouTube with links posted to it on social networking sites like Twitter without prior warning.
So Ninty could be planning on doing a similar thing today for the January 2019 Nintendo Direct.
The Nintendo Direct Mini for January last year went live at 2pm UK time on Thursday January 11 2018.
It remains to be seen if Nintendo drops a surprise Nintendo Direct Mini around that time today.
Nintendo yesterday announced the release date for Yoshi’s Crafted World on Switch and Kirby’s Epic Yarn on 3DS.
Capcom also this week announced that Dragon’s Dogma is coming to the Switch.
These are all announcements that typically would have been made during a Nintendo Direct.
So maybe these are signs that Ninty wanted to get these reveals out the way to free up more space in an upcoming Nintendo Direct.
If a Nintendo Direct does take place today there are plenty of games coming to the Switch in 2019 that Nintendo could feature.
Animal Crossing Switch, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and the new Fire Emblem are all due out this year.
These are the type of games on the horizon that Nintendo would likely want to build anticipation for in a Nintendo Direct presentation.
Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 are other first-party games in the works that fans are due an update on.
Other Switch games that could feature in a Nintendo Direct are the Pokemon Get 8 title and the rumoured Star Fox Grand Prix.
However, it seems more likely the Pokemon Gen 8 game could get its own unveiling event later on this year.
Persona 5, a brand new Ridge Racer, Super Mario Odyssey DLC, the return of Nintendo Land and a new Mario Maker are also rumoured for the Switch.
