The Bollywood megastar – who had crossover Hollywood success with her role in xXx: Return of Xander Cage back in 2017 – recently married Ranveer Singh, with whom she has worked many times. The pair’s work on-screen has made them a hugely popular celebrity couple, but it seems we won’t be seeing them acting together again for quite some time. Singh explained in a recent interview, however, that he is very much hoping to team up with his wife again in the future.
“My wife and I will not have a film together this year,” he said, according to thenews.com.pk.
“I’m hoping that filmmakers will approach the two of us with a script that we like and can take it forward.
“I’m looking forward to sharing screen space with her.”
They had worked together on the massively successful – yet also controversial – Padmaavat; as well as the likes of Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani.

“The chemistry between us is extra special. It has been seen and proven,” Singh said.
“Much as I am truly, madly and deeply in love with her, I am aching to act with Deepika again.
“As a fan of her work, I have been waiting patiently for her to commit to a film. And I’m truly overjoyed that she has committed to working with Meghna Gulzar on Chhapaak.”
Indeed, Chhapaak is the highly anticipated film which Padukone will also produce – about acid attack survivor Lakshmi Agarwal.
She is also believed to be returning for a new xXx movie, which was thought to be going into production early this year – but no updates have been issued as yet.
Xander Cage was only a moderate hit in the US and the UK but its success in other territories ensued it made enough money to warrant a sequel.
Padukone’s birthday is in fact today: she turns 33.
She married Singh in Lake Como in November.
