Of course, a bigger movie like Avengers Infinity War was always going to be very long at two hours and forty minutes.
However, it and Captain Marvel will no doubt be beaten by Avengers Endgame.
In fact, directors the Russo Brothers have teased it’s likely to be over three hours.
Speaking with EMPIRE, they said: “There’s a high probability that this movie will clock in at around three hours. It’s a big movie with a lot of story.”
Major cinematic releases are rarely over three hours, however, there’s been a few in recent years.
The 70mm version of Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight was three hours and seven minutes, while Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street was exactly three hours.
However, the longest mainstream modern example has to be The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, clocking in at three hours and twenty minutes.
Captain Marvel will be released in UK cinemas on March 8 and be followed by Avengers Endgame on April 26, 2019.
