And speaking six months after his move, Jorginho expressed his happiness at joining Chelsea and revealed the influences on his decision.
He told Sky Sports: “A lot of things happen and then, of course, it comes down to preferences.
“I’m really happy with my choice to be here at Chelsea…what’s happened has happened and I’m happy to be there now.
“My mum was a big influence in me coming here. Every decision, I speak to my mum and this one was the same.
“My mum has always been by my side for every decision I take.”
In 2013, Jorginho spoke out about how his mother taught him how to play football.
“My mother played football so I learned a lot from her,” Jorginho said.
“She still plays today and understands a lot. She would take me to the beach with a ball and I would spend the whole afternoon doing technical work in the sand.”
Chelsea’s first match of the new year is a home game against Southampton.
Jorginho is expected to start but Olivier Giroud is likely to miss out because of an ankle injury.
Pedro, Cesc Fabregas, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Danny Drinkwater are also all expected to remain sidelined.
Sarri said: “We are in trouble because in January we have to play every three days.
“We have to play 18 [more Premier League] matches, so other teams’ results are not important. But it is crucial to have continuity.”
