Avengers Endgame end credits rumour: X-Men in Avengers 4 post credit scene?

It is the greatest hope of all Marvel fans that one day soon all their beloved characters will be in one giant comicbook big-screen universe. That day is getting closer and closer now that Disney has acquired Fox, and with it the rights to the important groups of heroes including the Fantastic Four and the X-men. The post credit scenes are the perfect place for Marvel to start introducing exciting crossovers that could feature in the MCU Phase Four. Marvel boss Kevin Feige just spoke about the timeframe for what is coming next.

Speaking to Variety, he was asked if work had already started on franchises like Fantastic Four and X-Men.

Variety’s Kristopher Tapley tweeted Feige’s response: “No but we’ve been told it’s looking very, very good and could happen in the first six months of next year.”

Does this mean fans could get their first look at any of the Fox Marvel heroes at the end of Endgame.

After all, fans are expecting a cataclysmic ending to the first three MCU Phases, with many of the existing main heroes leaving the franchise, while huge new storylines are set up. For example, the Eternals have already been announced.

An early X-Men teaser, unfortunately, would seem almost impossible.

Avengers Endgame is in post-production right now. The idea that new scenes could be shot and ready for the April 26 release date is unthinkable.

Let alone the act that no actors have been cast in any of the potential new roles, nor has concept art started on costumes and so on, for franchises like Fantastic Four.

As for the X-men, the troubled X-Men Dark Phoenix will finally arrive in cinemas after Endgame. There has been no indication if that ongoing storyline (and the actors involved) will continue beyond that movie.

Many fans expect Dark Phoenix to be a dramatic and dark (and potentially absolute) ending to the entire Fox X-Men franchise.

Either way, if Feige thinks initial groundwork might begin in the next six months, it makes it extremely unlikely anything at all will hit the big screen before 2021 at the earliest.

AVENGERS ENDGAME IS OUT ON APRIL 26, 2019
