All I Want For Christmas Is You always returns to prominence over the festive season but it seems it hit a new high yesterday, Christmas Eve. In fact, it seems to have broken the record for the most Spotify streams in one day. The feat easily beats the high set by XXXTentacion’s SAD! earlier this year.
The track achieved 10,819,009 listens yesterday, December 24, according to the streaming site’s official numbers.
That’s easily enough to unseat XXXTenacion’s 10.4 million from June 19.
Of that phenomenal number of streams, 1.2 million were in the UK alone. The song also had 1.3 million plays in the US.
In fact, yesterday’s streaming was dominated by Christmas songs: Wham! classic Last Christmas wasn’t too far behind with 9.1 million worldwide.

Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You was released back in 1994 and, in the main UK singles chart, has never peaked higher than No2.
In fact, in this year’s Christmas rundown – announced last Friday – it is at No4.
In the US, the song has never gone higher than No6, despite being one of the most famous pop songs of all time.
Its resurgent success caps off a strong year for Carey, who achieved huge critical acclaim for her latest studio album, Caution.
She also recently brought her Christmas show back to the UK.
