Jeremy Clarkson RAGES at Gatwick Airport drone operator amid chaos: 'Kill him'

The 58-year-old The Grand Tour presenter was livid at the disruption caused by a drone being flown over the runway at Gatwick Airport which caused thousands of passengers’ flights to be cancelled yesterday. Taking to Twitter to vent, Jeremy Clarkson told his 7.1 million followers: “I really hope that when the fat s**t at Gatwick is caught, someone kills him.” A fan commented: “Bang him up,” at which point, Jeremy reiterated: “No. Kill him.”

“Assuming you’re flying to or from Gatwick then,” another Twitter user said.

“Nope,” the TV star replied. “I just feel sorry for all the people who’ve been affected.”

The runway has now re-opened, with Gatwick Airport saying 765 flights are scheduled to take off today.

With thousands still stranded at the airport, 140 flights have been cancelled.

Chief executive officer Chris Woodroofe told the BBC the police have not yet found whoever is operating the drones which caused the airport to shut down over a day.

“Additional mitigating measures provided by government agencies and military have given me the confidence to reopen the airport,” he said.

He revealed flights planned for today will have approximately 126,000 passenger on board.

He advised passengers to check with their airlines before they travelled to the airport in order to find out whether it was cancelled or due to go ahead today.

Having failed to locate the pilot of the drones, police have been considering shooting the devices down.

Last night, police said there had been over 50 sightings of drones in the area in the previous 24 hours.

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Barry of Sussex Police told BBC Breakfast there were a “number of lines of inquiry” into what he called the “criminal behaviour” and suggested the drone operator could be an environmental activist.

He said the police now have “a number of options” around the perimeter of Gatwick Airport to aid preventing further disruptions to flights.

Meanwhile, Transport Secretary Chris Grayling said there was no evidence the “unprecedented” situation was terror-related.

“Every possible measure will be put in place to make sure this can’t happen again,” he said.

The Transport Secretary said sightings were thought to have been of a “small number of drones”.

“It certainly wasn’t a lot,” he said. “It was the same small number of drones seen many times.”
