LeBron James has dunk BLOCKED for only ninth time in his career as Lakers lose to Nets

In the second minute of the game, Nets center Jarrett Allen was about to make a name for himself after blocking a dunk attempt by .

“If you go up and you block it, you’re going to be on the highlight,” Allen, 22, said.

“You get dunked on, you’re going to be on the highlight. So just go up and protect the rim.”

Allen is only the eighth player to block the three-time NBA champion, who has been denied just nine times in 1,850 dunk attempts in his career, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.

“That’s a helluva list to be on. He’s an amazing player,” Allen said.

James acknowledged Allen’s feat and predicted it to be on social media, but also pointed out the age difference between the players.

“He’s in his 20s; I’m in my 30s,” James said.

“It takes me a little longer to get warmed up. But that’s fine.

“I mean, you’re a shot-blocker. You should, you can, get a block.

“It happens. It’s probably all over social media, so, that’s cool.”

After getting warmed up James finished the game with 36 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists, but it wasn’t enough to secure the road win as the Lakers lost their second game in a row to go 18-13.

Nets coach Kenny Atkinson said Allen’s block set the tone for his team, who are now 14-18 after the victory in New York.

“I thought that got us going. I thought that got the crowd going,” Atkinson said.

“I thought he made a statement with that block.”

The victory was the Nets sixth straight, which is an season high, a feat they last achieved in 2015.

“That’s the only way you have a chance to beat this team, if everybody plays well,” Atkinson said.

“And I thought they did.”
