Thomas Markle broke his silence on having lost contact with his daughter Meghan Markle, 37, for the first time in months today, during the latest episode of Good Morning Britain. It came after the Duchess of Sussex reportedly chose to cut contact with her father – after he was found to be involved in the staging of paparazzi photographs of himself ahead of her and Prince Harry’s wedding this year. Today, the 74-year-old spoke to Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan about his daughter, as well as addressing recent reports claiming that the Duchess was “difficult” to work with. When quizzed about the headlines, the retired television lighting director and director of photography insisted that his daughter has “never been rude to anyone”.
Responding to the headlines, Thomas said: “I don’t really believe them.
“Meghan’s always been a really polite girl, she’s never been rude to anyone.
“She was raised on Hollywood stages,” he added.
However, Thomas went on to explain that it was in Meghan’s personality to take on a role of leadership in life.

Thomas continued: “She’s always been a very controlling person and that’s part of her nature but she’s never been rude.
“The ghosting I don’t completely understand, but to my knowledge, like I said, she’s always been in charge.
“That’s her nature, but she’s always been polite with it.”
The duo have not spoken since May, with Thomas insisting that he has been reaching out to his daughter on a regular basis.
He told Piers and Susanna: “Well I’m very disappointed by it I’m not sure why its happening and I’m waiting, I’m reaching out.
“I’ve been trying to reach out for her every day for weeks, every day I’ve tried to text her.
“I just keep asking her to respond back to me. I have sent a letter as well.”
Last week, Prince Harry, 34, and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, released their first official Christmas card photo as a married couple.
The capture was a photograph from their royal wedding, which took place at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in May.
In the photograph, the pair could be seen standing with the backs to the camera.
Watching some fireworks in the sky, the royals wrapped their arms around one another.
The black-and-white shot had not previously been released to the public.
