Ashley Madison looked at its member signup statistics to find out the top cities for cheating in the UK during the cold winter months. It was the Kent town Dartford that saw the most sign up during winter, according to the married dating website. According to the site, last winter the UK saw nearly 160,000 new affairs.

Isabella Mise, director of communications for Ashley Madison said: “A lot of times people living in smaller hubs spend a great deal of time travelling for work and use that time to connect with people who are not their spouse.
“Dartford is one of these places and with its deep religious roots, it’s not shocking people might be looking for an escape, especially when it’s colder outside.”
Dr. Tammy Nelson, sex and relationships therapist and author of The New Monogamy: Redefining your Relationship After Infidelity said: “Winter in places that are traditionally colder and darker can mean that those seeking an affair might feel more motivation to start looking.
“With shorter days and longer nights, some people want to stay in with their current partner, but if they aren’t happy at home, they might feel trapped and crave something new.”
