Battlefield 5 Tides of War update PATCH NOTES, servers DOWN for PS4, Xbox One release

UPDATE: Battlefield 5’s Tide of War update has been delayed by DICE.

The new Battlefield 5 content update was scheduled to be released on December 4, but has been pushed back following the discovery of an in-game issue.

“The team has discovered an issue with the #Battlefield Chapter 1: Overture update,” reads a DICE tweet. “Rather than create issues in the game, we’re holding the update for the time being.

“We don’t anticipate a long delay and we’ll be back with more news tomorrow or as soon as we have it.”

Battlefield V’s Tides of War Chapter 1: Overture update will go live on December 4.

To accompany the huge new patch and updated content, DICE will temporarily take the game offline for server maintenance.

Battlefield server downtime kicks off for PC owners at 9am GMT in the UK. It’s only for an hour, so there shouldn’t be too much disruption.

This will be followed by PS4 server downtime at 10am UK time and Xbox One maintenance at 11am.

According to DICE, the update is mandatory for anybody wishing to play Battlefield V.

Full patch notes are yet to be revealed, but EA has already revealed some of the changes coming to the game.

Arguably the biggest new addition is the Last Tiger story chapter, which will conclude the War Stories campaign.

Players will assume control of a German tank operator on the country’s borders.

“The Last Tiger, a new single-player War Story, lets you join the German crew of a Tiger I tank, operating a near-indestructible vehicle in an unwinnable battle on the homeland’s borders,” DICE explains.

The vehicular combat will continue on the newly released Panzerstorm map in Belgium.

“Chapter 1 also brings the Panzerstorm map to Battlefield V multiplayer,” DICE continues.

“Clash with the steel beasts of World War 2 on the Belgian countryside’s rolling hills on this vehicle-based fighting ground.”

Then there’s the launch of the Practice Range, which will give players the chance to test out weapons before jumping into multiplayer.

Vehicle customisation and chapter progression rewards will be joined by a host of bug fixes and stability improvements.

Best of all, the Tides of War update is free to all Battlefield 5 players.
