Liverpool vs Everton: Paul Merson SAVAGES Toffees in Merseyside derby prediction

And the former Arsenal man believes the Toffees are ‘a million miles’ away from their Merseyside rivals.

Liverpool lost to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this week in the Champions League and Merson expects a reaction.

The pundit also believes Gylfi Sigurdsson is the only player from Everton that would even have a chance of getting into Jurgen Klopp’s side.

He told the Daily Star: “Liverpool were given the runaround by Paris Saint-Germain but they will win the Merseyside derby.

“I watched Everton at Chelsea recently and they were very well-organised but Chelsea still had good chances to win the game.

“I don’t think Liverpool will be that kind. Losing to PSG will have dented their confidence – and at times they were given a lesson.

“But how many Everton players would get in the Liverpool team? Only Gylfi Sigurdsson for me. And that tells the story.

“Everton are a million miles behind Liverpool at the moment. Sigurdsson is the danger man for them in this game.

“He’s their best chance of getting something and his set-plays are going to be important.

“But I can’t see anything but a Liverpool win. They just have too many weapons.

“If it was at Goodison, you might fancy Everton but they just can’t win at Anfield, can they?

“It’s like they have some sort of mental block there. Maybe if they tried to take the game to Liverpool, it might be different.

“But I don’t think they will. They will set up like they did at Chelsea and try to come away with a draw.”

Liverpool welcome Everton to Anfield at 4.15pm on Sunday.

The Reds are currently two points behind leaders Manchester City in the Premier League.

Bit with City facing Bournemouth on Saturday, the gap could be five points before Liverpool kick off.
