Ms Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to attack critics for “drooling over every minute of footage” to use against her. This came after she posted a video on Twitter where she mentioned “three chambers of Congress”. She said: “If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress.
“Uh, rather, all three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House.”
Conservatives commentators on Twitter were quick to pick up on Ms Ocasio-Cortez’s mistake and began to mock her.
Jim Hanson tweeted: “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – the gift that keeps on giving.
“She wants Democrats to take back all ‘three chambers of Congress’.

John Cardillo tweeted: “The ignorance of our political process among Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her supporters is mind-numbing.”
However, the newly elected representative snapped back on Saturday in response to Ohio State Representative Niraj Antani, who tweeted her saying: “What is a chamber of government?”

She responded: “Maybe instead of Republicans drooling over every minute of footage of me in slow-mo, waiting to chop up word slips that I correct in real-time, they actually step up enough to make the argument they want to make.”
Ms Ocasio-Cortez came to prominence after defeating the ten-term incumbent Rep Joe Crowley during New York’s Democratic primary elections in June.
During her campaign, she ran on a platform of socialised healthcare, immigration reform, gun control and free education.
She will be the youngest person to ever serve in Congress when she starts her term in January.
The US Congress is composed of two chambers: the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The US government is made up of three branches: the legislative which consists of Congress, the judiciary which is made up of the courts and the executive which is represented by the President and their administration.
