Liverpool news: Harry Wilson reveals Jurgen Klopp messages, talks Frank Lampard influence

Wilson is currently on loan at Championship side Derby County.

The 21-year-old scored a stunning free-kick at Wales beat the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Free-kicks are becoming Wilson’s expertise after he fired a stunning strike from a dead ball against Man United in the Carabao Cup.

Now the youngster is really enjoying his football and is even being tipped for a recall to Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp is keeping a close watch on Wilson who signed a new long-term contract before joining the Rams on loan.

“I have messaged Klopp a few times,” Wilson said.

“I know he is keeping an eye on the loan players to see how they are doing. I am fully focused on getting that promotion at Derby first.

“The Klopp advice? Well, we all know the way Jurgen wants his teams to play. We all see the system and how we could fit in. But I have to be focused on what my club manager wants at Derby.”

Wilson is benefitting from regular game time and also working under the management of Frank Lampard, who is a perfect mentor given his career as an attacking midfielder.

“When you are playing for a manager who had a career like he has you have to take as much as you can off him,” Wilson added.

“When he is pulling you aside in training or anytime he says something to you then you have to take it on board and try to improve.

“If you watch Derby and the way we are playing we are trying to pass the ball. Pass and move. That’s the way he wants us to play and the lads are buying into it well. It’s a great education.”

Ryan Giggs seems to be a big fan of Wilson and has shown his faith in the midfielder since taking over as boss.

“It is always important to play week in week out, You feel fit, you hit a rhythm and you feel strong. Hopefully it will stand me in good stead for going back to Liverpool,” Wilson said.

“Ryan Giggs has been great too, has backed younger lads to come in and do a job for him. We have to take our chances.”

The youngster admitted that Gareth Bale will be back taking free-kicks when the Real Madrid star returns to action.
