It was reviewed after it was initially registered as a 6.5 and then downgraded to a 6.3 on the Richter scale.

Tonga and New Caledonia are both situated in the Ring Of Fire, known for its volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.

New Caledonia island was the qorst affected by Tuesday’s earthquakes.

A total of 15 fresh tremors in the territory are all in the mid-to-high range, and losses to both life and economy are expected to arise as a result.

They also confirmed that no deaths had taken place.

USGS states: “Overall, the population in this region resides in structures that are highly vulnerable to earthquake shaking.”

New Caledonia sits right on the fault line of the Pacific, meaning frequent and sometimes strong earthquakes can be a common occurence.

The Loyalty Islands are a tourists hotspot and a favourite for scuba divers.

They are known for their stunning natural beauty and crystal clear waters – perfect conditions for diving.

The Ring of Fire is home to 452 volcanoes, more than 75 percent of the world’s active volcanoes and witnesses around 90 percent of the world’s earthquakes.
