Strictly Come Dancing: Stacey and Kevin’s body language reveals this says expert

Stacey Dooley, 31, and Kevin Clifton, 36, soared to the top of the leaderboard on Strictly Come Dancing.

The couple danced the Foxtrot to Jim Diamond’s Hi Ho Silver, clad in 60s style outfits.

Their performance saw them awarded 33 points, receiving their first nine of the series.

During the show, the pair showed their relationship to the audience with their easy rapport and camaraderie.

Their body language was telling when it came to their friendship that has blossomed over the past few weeks.

Author and body language expert Judi James spoke to Express.co.uk on what that means for the couple.

She said: “These two seem to have developed high levels of empathy and rapport allowing Kevin to design routines that completely fit Stacey’s fun, high-energy style.

“Stacey still uses her fun, stumpy steps but you can see her confidence growing now allowing her to act her roles and produce some really elegant moves too.

“The pair are show-stoppingly good together, combining two strong characters into one entertaining routine.”

Judi also revealed more about Stacey herself and how she has developed in the recent weeks.

The pair’s previous dances saw them receive lows of 20 points, with Stacey improving in both skill and confidence since.

“It was Stacey’s birthday and the judges described her as bubbly champagne,” she said.

“She’s lost a lot of her self-critical, self-effacing body language, tonight it was just a huge scream of delight.”

Last week’s performance was just as positive, as the pair received 32 for their Minion-themed dance.

Judi explained how it showed a “toughness and resolve” from Stacey, something she often shows and is known for in her hard-hitting documentary series.

“This was the week that she stole the show from Kevin,” she said, “often starting movements and steps before him rather than waiting to take her cue or copy.”

Most eyes were on Seann Walsh and Katya Jones last night as they performed their first dance since photographs of their steamy kiss.

Their dance was praised by the judges for the energy as they performed a pizzeria-themed Charleston, while viewers were critical of their performance.

Many felt the show glossed over the kiss while others joked their outfits were made less raunchy than previous weeks.
