Hurricane Michael latest update: Four US counties issue CURFEWS as dangerous storm nears

Coffee County in Tennessee will be under a country-wide curfew beginning at 6pm Wednesday until 6pm Thursday (local time).

The Georgia county of Colquitt’s curfew will start at midnight on Tuesday and last until noon on Wednesday.

Colquitt County Sheriff, Rod Howell, posted a Facebook post confirming the details.

He said: “Curfew clarification: the curfew begins at midnight tonight, Tuesday/Wednesday, October 10, 2018, until noon tomorrow, Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

“This curfew is due to the still unknown uncertainty surrounding the storm’s path and effects.

The Georgia city of Doerun Police Department also issued a statement about the curfew.

The statement read: “At 9.55am on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, Mayor Michael Campbell signed a declaration of local emergency for the City of Doerun.

“This enacts Section 20-26 of the City of Doerun local ordinance implementing closed or restricted areas and curfews during a declared emergency.

“A citywide curfew will be in place beginning 12.00pm (noon) tomorrow, October 10, 2018.

“This curfew will remain in effect throughout the impact of Hurricane Michael and potentially afterwards to ensure the safety of citizens while cleanup is performed.

“If you own or operate a business within in the City of Doerun, we are requiring you to close tomorrow at noon for your safety and the safety of your customers.

“We will assess damage and notify businesses as quickly as possible when the curfew will be lifted so you can resume normal operations.”

Lee County in Florida has lifted its curfew as of Tuesday afternoon.

And Worth County, also in Georgia, will be under a two-day curfew starting at 10pm (local time) on Tuesday until 6am Wednesday morning

The curfew will be extended until 8pm on Tuesday until 6am on Thursday.
