Square Enix news: Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Kingdom Hearts 3, Avengers, Octopath Traveler

Square Enix fans have been handed fresh rumours about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3.

It’s rumoured that the Japanese gaming giant could be planning on bringing Kingdom Hearts 3 to the Nintendo Switch.

YouTuber DreamcastGuy said a source has told him Square Enix are “heavily considering” bringing Kingdom Hearts 3 to the Nintendo Switch.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is pencilled in for a release date on the PS4 and Xbox One in January so it’s unlikely a Switch version will launch alongside then.

If Square Enix do decide to bring Kingdom Hearts 3 to the Switch it’s likely to be like with Dragon Quest XI – at a later date.

But could this also open the door for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake getting a Nintendo Switch release date?

Both the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3 run on the same engine – Unreal 4.

If Square Enix believes the Switch could handle a Kingdom Hearts 3 port then maybe they’d feel the same about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

The rumours come after last year Hajime Tabata, director of Final Fantasy 15, said Square Enix had tested the Unreal Engine 4 on the Nintendo Switch.

And Tabata-san said that during tests Nintendo’s hybrid console handled the engine well.

In other Square Enix news rumours have been sparked that the upcoming mysterious Avengers game could be heading to next-gen consoles.

Crystal Dynamics are the developers for the Avengers project and a recent job listing has hinted the game could be coming to next-gen formats.

The firm wants a senior software engineer who has “experience with current and next gen platforms: Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.”

The job listing has sparked rumours that the new Avengers game could be cross-generational.

And finally in today’s Square Enix news round-up fans those looking to pick up Octopath Traveler have been given a stock update.

Soon after launch the Nintendo Switch title was like gold dust, with it selling out fast whenever it came in stock.

But there are a number of online retailers you can pick Octopath Traveler up from now.

Amazon, Argos, AO and 365games all have physical versions of Octopath Traveler available if you want to purchase it online today.
