Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus star BLAMED for Beppe Marotta’s imminent exit

The Italian is set to depart the Serie A heavyweights later this month after eight years at the helm.

Marotta established himself as a transfer guru at Juventus, helping the club sign experienced players without breaking the bank.

The club bucked that trend in the summer, splashing out €100m (£88m) on Ronaldo after the World Cup.

But while the forward may be useful on the pitch, former Italian striker Luca Toni has blamed the ex-Real Madrid man for the departure of Marotta.

“Players and directors come and go. Juventus remain”, he told Sky Sports Italia.

“Marotta has done very well at Juventus, I think he is a manager that can do well in another top European club as well but in my opinion the arrival of Ronaldo has broken something at Juventus.

“When there is a problem among the key members of a club it’s hard to continue the project together.

“Juventus will remain there forever, the Agnelli family will remain forever, chiefs and managers come and go.

“Marotta made history but I personally know [Fabio] Paratici and [Federico] Cherubini and I can ensure that they can do very well too.

“If you sign Ronaldo and somebody doesn’t agree with the decision things can become more complicated than what they used to be.”

Corriere dello Sport claim Juventus bigwig Marotta could soon be on his way to Manchester United, bringing with him former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who has been out of work since the summer.

The former Old Lady boss clashed with United boss Jose Mourinho on more than one occasion during his time in England, where he won the Premier League during his debut season.

United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is looking to hire a sporting director at Old Trafford and could appoint Marotta as he looks to overhaul the club’s hierarchy.

Corriere dello Sport’s front-page on Tuesday shows Conte and Marotta embracing with the headline ‘United’.

The duo enjoyed success together in Turin, where Conte won three Serie A title with Juventus.
