Man Utd news: Gary Neville delivers brutal message to Paul Pogba over Barcelona transfer

Pogba’s future has been uncertain this summer after links to Barcelona and suggestions of a fallout with Jose Mourinho.

Paul Pogba has refused to rule out a move on several occasions and admitted he doesn’t know what the future holds.

He also said he would be fined if he revealed what he really thought of Mourinho.

And Neville has grown tired of the antics and has analysed the situation from three different sides, as a pundit, a fan and an owner.

“Neville the pundit on Pogba would say, ‘He’s a talented player but I want to see more consistency and leadership,’” he told The Times.

“As a fan, honestly, part of me is that no one is bigger than the club and I am not interested in people who are looking left and right.

“So Paul, if you want to go play somewhere else, let’s make that work for you because Manchester United will be fine, don’t worry about that.

“The owner in me would do what United are doing at the moment, saying he is not for sale.

“They have to protect their asset but privately they might be doing a deal because they want to get their £90m back.

“If I was still in that dressing room giving personal advice it would be, ‘Paul, it’s obvious you want to play somewhere else but be professional. Don’t be someone who is seen as a mercenary or a mutineer. You don’t need to do that.’

“So there are four ways to look at it — pundit, owner, fan, a personal word.”

Pogba returned early after the World Cup to score in the opening day win over Leicester but has struggled in the three games since with Manchester United losing two of their four first matches.

And while on international duty he suggested he could move in the future when asked about links to Barcelona.

He will be back in action against Watford on Saturday evening but it looks like patience is finally running out with the fans.

Neville’s assessment mirrors the wider view of fans who are growing tired of his constant talking without committing himself to the club.

“My future is currently in Manchester,” Pogba told Sky in Germany last week while with France.

“I still have a contract, I’m playing there at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the near future.”

And when asked about his relationship with Mourinho he said: “We have a pure coach-player relationship. That’s how it is.

“One thing I can assure you: I will always give 100 percent, regardless for which coach. I always give everything for United — I cannot say more.”
