The Australian came from a set behind to beat Federer 3-6 7-5 7-6 7-6 and reach his first ever Grand Slam quarter-final.
Djokovic overcame Portugal’s Joao Sousa in the last 16 with a comfortable 6-3 6-4 6-3 victory to set up the clash with Millman.
But Federer has warned the Serbian that he faces a tough match against the man who downed him at Flushing Meadows.
