Thinking of getting a Samsung Galaxy Note 9? You may want to wait if new rumours are true

The Galaxy Note 9 was announced at the start of August and touted a wealth of new features that make it the most capable device from Samsung around.

In addition to touting a lush 6.4-inch display, the phone also comes packing a Snapdragon 845 or Exynos 9810 processor depending on the region.

This is accompanied by either 6 or 8GB of RAM depending on the variant.

And the product line’s signature accessory, the S Pen, also boasts a ton of new features this time around.

It now has Bluetooth functionality, meaning it can control music playback, the camera shutter and even slide shows.

But fans of the South Korean tech giant might want to wait before picking up the phablet if a new report is to be believed.

CNBC recently insisted Samsung will show off a “foldable smartphone” later this year.

Such a product was first teased back in 2014 and rumours have been swirling about the product since.

Samsung has spent years showing off new technologies that allow displays to be bended in a variety of ways, adding further credence to speculation it was planning on releasing a foldable phone.

The American outlet insisted DJ Koh, the head of Samsung’s mobile arm, revealed the new device would be detailed by the company “later this year”.

The boss was quoted as saying it was “time to deliver” such a product.

He allegedly added Samsung believes the market for foldable hardware exists.

While DJ Koh did not discuss specific details of the product, he did emphasise it would have to show why having a such a build could be useful to customers.

He told CNBC: “You can use most of the uses on foldable status.

“But when you need to browse or see something, then you may need to unfold it. But even unfolded, what kind of benefit does that give compared to the tablet?

“If the unfolded experience is the same as the tablet, why would they consumers buy it?

“So every device, every feature, every innovation should have a meaningful message to our end customer. So when the end customer uses it, they think ‘wow, this is the reason Samsung made it’.”

CNBC declared the Samsung boss hinted the device could be discussed at the firm’s developer conference in November.

However no indication was given as to when the hardware could release.

Back in July The Wall Street Journal declared Samsung is likely to make the phone from a single display panel.
