Private jet carrying rapper Post Malone blows tires on takeoff

A luxury jet that took off from New Jersey’s Teterboro Airport on Tuesday and blew two tires upon take off, causing it to spend hours circling over the tri-state area, landed safely.

The flight was carrying rapper Post Malone, who performed with Aerosmith and 21 Savage at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City on Monday night and won Song of the Year for his hit “Rockstar.”

Videos posted on Instagram by the rapper’s DJ, who goes by “Smitty,” show Malone, wearing pink pants and shirt that says, “Tainted Love,” raising a fist in the air while walking toward a Gulfstream Aerospace GLF-4 aircraft. Another video show’s Malone grinning while lying on a bed aboard the plane.

Malone tweeted after the plane landed just before 4 p.m. ET, thanking his fans for their prayers.

“i landed guys. thank you for your prayers. can’t believe how many people wished death on me on this website. f— you. but not today,” he wrote.

Malone and his crew boarded the flight, which was bound for Luton, England, around 10 a.m. ET, according to NBC New York.

After the tires blew, the flight circled Teterboro before being diverted to Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport in Massachusetts. It was then expected to make a landing in Connecticut.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. ET the flight was again re-routed to head toward Stewart Airport north of New York City, the Federal Aviation Administration told NBC News. The plane landed safely just before 4 p.m. ET.

Malone has worked with other stars like 50 Cent and Kanye West. He also performed at makeup mogul Kylie Jenner’s 18th birthday party, according to NBC New York.

His songs “Rockstar” and “Psycho” both peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.
