Djokovic has won eight of the nine ATP 1000 events and needs to add the Cincinnati Masters title to complete the set.
The Serbian is well on track to achieving that accomplishment as he is in semi-final action against Marin Cilic this evening.
Djokovic has won 13 Grand Slam titles in his career – four less than Nadal and seven fewer than Federer.
But he does hold other achievements which could allow him to be held in the same esteem as the current top two players in the world.
“If he holds all nine Masters titles, the first man since Rod Laver, it will be an incredible achievement,” Rusedski told Sky Sports.

“It sometimes feels at times he is under the shadow of Nadal and Federer but at one time he held all four Grand Slam titles and was by far the best player in the world.
“He should be able to say ‘hey guys, you have not held all four Grand Slam titles at the same time or all nine Masters titles’.
“I think he is desperate to win here in Cincinnati to complete the Golden Masters.
“He is one of the greatest movers on a tennis court ever. He is an exceptional athlete.”
Meanwhile, fellow pundit Annabel Croft has been impressed with how Djokovic has returned from a nasty elbow injury which required surgery.
“It is an incredible resurgence,” Croft said.
“Many people doubted him and he doubted it himself.
“It was like an 18 month process but he has come back strong.”
