Niantic has made Celebi the reward for a tough challenge, similar to how Mew was released a few months ago.
Players will be tasked with a series of challenges, each with increasing difficulty, to get the new mythical Pokemon.
Niantic Labs have not yet revealed the specifics on how to catch Celebi but the company teased the task will test players’ skill.
To give you an idea of what to expect, fans should look at what challenges the people at the GO Fest had to do to secure Celebi.
Pokemon Go players at the event had to complete three challenges in three separate stages.
These included:
- Step 1 – Spin three Pokestops or Pokemon Gyms, Earn a Buddy Candy, Catch 15 Pokemon
- Step 2 – Catch 10 fire-type pokemon, Catch 10 water-type Pokemon, Catch 10 grass-type Pokemon, Catch 10 steel-type Pokemon, Catch 10 rock-style Pokemon, Catch 10 ice-type Pokemon
- Step 3 – Catch seven unown, Spin three Pokestops, Hatch three eggs
As you can see, these were quite time-consuming tasks, so players should expect similar challenges to catch Celebi.
The one pre-requisite Pokémon Go players need in order to embark on their Research task is they have to have finished the third set of challenges to collect Mew.
What is Celebi?
Celebi is the next mythical Pokemon to be released into Pokemon Go.
The Pokemon first appeared in Pokemon Gold and Silver as a psychic-grass type Pokemon capable of travelling through time.
Celebi is said to be a protector of the forests and travels through time to visit undisturbed nature reserves throughout history.
The Pokemon will join Mew as the next Mythical creature to be added to the game and will sure to be the pride and joy of any Pokemon Go collection.
