eBay is full of rare and valuable collectables, being the world’s largest online auction site and marketplace.
Amongst the clothes, cars and books, a plethora of rare coins are for sale, with many listed for sky-high figures.
One coin newly listed on eBay is a ‘rare’ William Shakespeare £2 coin, added to the site this afternoon for a whopping £2,995.
The coin was listed by eBay user nellist7888, who has 100 per cent positive feedback and hails from Middlesbrough.
Justifying the coin’s staggering price tag, the seller titled the listing: “2016 RARE £2 WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE HISTORIES HOLLOW CROWN – Two Pound Coin x 1”.

Listed for almost 1500 times its intended value, the seller has also made the coin available for offers – possibly willing to take a lower price.
It seems the coin is gaining interest on the site, marked with a “fire” icon and attracting one view per hour.
The coin was minted in 2016 to celebrate the life of one of Britain’s most loved and famous writers.
But despite the coin’s high listing price, scarcity index Change Checker has actually rated the coin a six – which is common – with 4,615,000 minted.
Along with the William Shakespeare £2 coin, nellist7888 has a host of other coins for sale on eBay.
These include an Abolition of Slavery £2 coin and a Beatrix Potter 50p.
Proving that rare coins can actually bring in the bucks, another £2 coin was sold on eBay earlier this week for a whopping £3,500.
Also hailing from Middlesbrough, eBay user climbing_uk managed to sell two rare coins for thousands of pounds.
The listing contained two coins, which were both ‘very rare’ Charles Dickens £2 coins, originally minted in 2012 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the British novelist.
Fetching £3,500, the listing was titled: “Very Rare X2 Mint Error Charles Dickens £2 Coin.”
With a mintage for circulation of 8,190,00, the coin is actually rated one for collectibility and scarcity, the lowest rating.
