Fortnite update 1.72: Epic Games launch new PS4 and Android patch today for 5.21 release

Players have seen themselves kicked randomly from games following Epic Games launching a new hotfix.

The development team did warn that this could happen at a later date, due to problems with the latest Fortnite content patch.

“We’re aware of an increase in crashes in Battle Royale since the release of v5.21,” the Epic Games message reads.

“We’ve identified the issue and are working towards a fix. We’ll update you once we have more information.”

This appears to be the new hotfix in question that has been launched to makes changes to the game.

PS4 gamers are currently seeing a Fortnite update 1.72 download pop up on their screens; however, the numbering is probably random.

Most players will already know that we have reached 5.21 in the current Fortnite build, which is unlikely to go back.

Players on PC and Android are also reporting a new update being pushed on their platforms, while some Android players are being made to wait to patch their game.

Epic Games themselves recently shared this update, confirming which platforms have been affected by tonight’s patching:

“The following platforms have received a client update to resolve the increase in crashes related to patch v5.21: PC, Mac, Android, PS4.”

No official patch notes have been released with the new Fortnite update, although it seems likely it only contained minor bugfixes.

It should be noted that Fortnite Save the World has also been updated, with the game recently hit by server performance issues.
