Donald Trump FIRES BACK at former aide Omarosa following release of SECRET tapes

The audio tapes, which were released on NBC’s Today show on Monday, include an alleged phone call between herself and President Trump directly following her December 2017 sacking, in which the President expressed surprise that she had been fired.

The US leader fired back at his former employee on Monday, and accused her of “begging” for her job and causing problems within the White House.

Writing on Twitter, he said: “Wacky Omarosa, who got fired three times on the Apprentice, now got fired for the last time. She never made it, never will.

“She begged me for a job, tears in her eyes, I said OK.

“People in the White House hated her. She was vicious, but not smart. I would rarely see her but heard really bad things.”

The US leader accused Ms Manigault Newman of “constantly missing meetings” and being “nothing but problems” during her short tenure in the US administration.

He stated that he asked Chief of Staff General John F. Kelly to try and improve Ms Newman’s performance as she had “only great things to say” about him.

The President later acknowledged that his comments were “not presidential to take on a lowlife like Omarosa”, but argued that they were necessary in order to counter the “fake news media” which were attempting to make Omarosa “look legitimate”.

The recording, which is yet to be verified, reportedly depicts President Trump unaware that Ms Manigault Newman had been fired.

Ms Newman is heard saying: “General Kelly – General Kelly came to me and said that you guys wanted me to leave.”

President Trump is heard responding: “No, nobody even told me about it.

“You know they run a big operation, but I didn’t know it. I didn’t know that. Goddamn it. I don’t love you leaving at all.”

Ms Manigault Newman raised concerns that President Trump does “not know what is happening” in the White House, and stated this “should be alarming to any American”.

The audio tapes released on Monday follow further recordings published on Sunday, which were reportedly recorded in the Situation Room when Ms Manigault Newman was fired.

She also told NBC’s Today programme that she has “multiple tapes” which are yet to be released.

In a direct warning to President Trump, she said: “There’s a lot of very corrupt things happening in the White House and I am going to blow the whistle on a lot of them.”

Critics nevertheless raised concerns that Ms Manigault Newman may be breaching White House security regulations.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said: “The very idea a staff member would sneak a recording device into the White House Situation Room shows a blatant disregard for our national security.”

Ms Manigault Newman is currently promoting her new book Unhinged, which offers an account of her time in the White House.
