Emotional Revelation for Liv Tyler Before Concert
While Mia’s sisterhood claim began as playful banter, Liv had already been informed of their half-sibling relationship “prior to the concert.” Both sisters admitted becoming “emotional” as they revisited this pivotal moment during their podcast conversation.
“I distinctly remember standing there, observing Guns N’ Roses perform, and noticing this girl who was my doppelganger. We were even wearing almost identical outfits,” Liv recounted. “I turned to my mother, and she simply burst into tears. My mom just openly wept.”
Complicated Family History Unveiled
Buell, now 71, felt compelled to divulge the complete, and admittedly “complex,” story to Liv at that juncture.
Buell had been involved in a “romantic relationship” with Steven amidst her established relationship with Todd Rundgren. Liv explained that her mother initially left Rundgren but “became apprehensive” upon witnessing Steven’s lifestyle more closely.
“As the narrative goes, I believe she contacted Todd and disclosed her pregnancy,” Liv elaborated. “He then extended an invitation for her to return home to Woodstock, New York, where they resided. He very bravely and lovingly stated, ‘This child requires a father figure, and I will assume that role.’”
Path to Familial Recognition and Bonding
Liv continued, “The narrative becomes somewhat convoluted here because there was apparently an understanding that perhaps I would remain unaware [of Steven] or perhaps the revelation would be postponed until I reached 18. However, that agreement was ultimately disregarded.”
Following Steven’s entry into rehab in 1986, he contacted Buell seeking to “reconcile” and subsequently met with her at Rundgren’s concert in Boston.
“That evening, I was introduced to Steven,” she recounted. “Over the following year, he became a more consistent presence in my life. Initially, I remained uninformed of his true identity, simply perceiving him as this charismatic personality.”
