The seismic activity, felt in the early hours, startled individuals staying in the well-known resort during the Easter period, with some reporting they were “almost thrown out of bed” as the ground shook.

Earthquake Epicenter Near Torrevieja

According to the National Geographic Institute, the epicenter of the earthquake was situated approximately three miles from the center of Torrevieja. Reports indicated a magnitude three earthquake at a depth of 621 miles.

A British expatriate residing in the Los Balcones area shared their experience on social media, describing the event as impactful: “It was something else. The entire house was shaking. I found it difficult to return to sleep afterwards, worried about potential aftershocks.”

Another resident commented online, noting their familiarity with seismic events in the region, stating, “I’m accustomed to these occurrences, but this tremor produced a very loud noise, similar to rocks fracturing deep beneath the surface.”

This resident further added, “We were likely in close proximity to the epicenter.”
