Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has provided a positive health update, sharing a photograph from the Good Hope Oncology Ward. The 34-year-old BBC personality posted the image on her Instagram stories, offering fans a glimpse into her ongoing journey following cancer treatment. Ongoing Treatment and Positive Outlook
Despite receiving the all-clear from cancer in February 2024, Dowden disclosed in August of the same year that she would continue with treatment for another five years. “I am still receiving my monthly injections, which will continue for the next five years, but currently, my tests are encouraging, and everything is progressing positively,” she stated during a television appearance.
Diagnosis and Journey to Recovery
In May 2023, Dowden received a diagnosis of stage three breast cancer after discovering a lump. Medical professionals identified two types of cancer, ductal and lobular, which led to the dancer undergoing a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and fertility preservation treatment.
Last February, after receiving her all-clear, Dowden shared her elation on Instagram, describing the news as “words I dreamed of” and her “biggest achievement to date.” This year, she was also honoured with an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List.
Future Motherhood Aspirations
While Dowden underwent fertility treatment, she indicated during a recent appearance on a daytime talk show that motherhood was not yet an immediate consideration.

“However, becoming a mother is truly my desire; it has always been,” she confessed.
“We currently have five embryos preserved, and I sincerely hope that in the future, when it is safe, I will have the privilege and joy of becoming someone’s mother.”
