British Tourist Dies During Benidorm Stag Do Celebrations

In a tragic incident during stag do celebrations in Benidorm, a British man, who was soon to be married, has died. The 29-year-old from Halifax collapsed at a bar in front of his father and friends. The unforeseen event occurred on March 22 at the Funky Flamingo bar, prompting a rapid response from emergency services in the popular holiday destination.

Fatal Collapse at Funky Flamingo Bar

Gaston Luciano, the bar manager at Funky Flamingo, recounted to MailOnline the distressing sequence of events. He described how the British national fell backwards from a bar stool, sustaining a head injury.

“I immediately started CPR, assisted by another patron. For about a minute, he showed signs of responsiveness, but then there was nothing. We continued resuscitation efforts for around fifteen minutes until paramedics arrived. They took over and worked on him for an additional forty-five minutes,” Luciano explained.

He further detailed the emergency team’s efforts, stating, “They administered adrenaline and connected him to a machine; they exhausted all possible measures. It was incredibly heartbreaking.”

Heartbreak for Family and Friends

Gaston spoke with the deceased’s father, who mentioned they were from Halifax and that the young man was a father himself. The bar manager added that the father shared the groom-to-be and his fiancé were scheduled to get married in May. He also revealed a prior health issue, stating, “The father mentioned he had previously suffered a heart attack in England at the age of 24, five years ago.”

Eyewitness Accounts of the Incident

Holidaymaker Tracey Pilling was passing by the bar when the incident unfolded and described the scene:

  • “There was a large crowd gathered outside. We were just walking past, but there were several police vehicles and two ambulances… it was truly upsetting.”
  • “We decided to move on as we felt it was inappropriate to linger and watch. However, we were informed that his friends were all standing outside.”

Tracey also mentioned checking online for updates the following day, expressing her distress and initial hope for a positive outcome.

Another witness posted on a Benidorm forum inquiring about the groom’s condition, acknowledging the CPR administered by a bar patron before paramedics reached the scene.

A response from another witness on the forum conveyed the gravity of the situation: “It was such a dreadful and tragic occurrence to witness; I have never seen anything like it! I cannot stop thinking about him, his fiancée, and his family, particularly his young son. May he rest in peace.”

TikToker Captures Scene Unaware of Tragedy

A TikTok user, passing the bar at the time, mistakenly believed a serious crime had occurred due to the road closure and presence of numerous police cars and ambulances.

In his video commentary, unaware of the unfolding tragedy, he remarked, “Be careful in Benidorm! Numerous police, road closed, and ambulances everywhere… hoping everyone is alright!”

He further commented, “You know something significant is happening in the ‘Dorm when they’ve closed off the road and there are two ambulances, police cars… goodness gracious.”

Approaching closer to the establishment, he observed the gathering outside: “What on earth is going on? There are even more police… it must be some kind of accident; I hope they are okay… it does not look good at all, not good in the slightest.”

Bar Employee Confirms Heart Attack

A Funky Flamingo employee stated, “The man experienced a heart attack and collapsed, hitting his head severely on the floor.”

“He was bleeding profusely from the head. Resuscitation efforts were immediately initiated with CPR while awaiting the ambulance, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful,” the employee added.

“Upon the ambulance crew’s arrival, he had already passed away. It is incredibly sad; he was only 28 or 29, celebrating his stag do with his father and friends. He was due to be married in May.”

Official Confirmation and Support

A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) informed MailOnline: “We are providing support to the family of a British man who has died in Spain.”

Spanish National Police confirmed to the Spanish Eye: “We can verify that a man suffered a medical event and died at the location. He received initial aid from individuals present at the scene and subsequently from responding paramedics. The definitive medical cause of death remains undetermined.”

Separate Incident: Missing British Man in Benidorm Located

This tragedy occurred just days prior to the disappearance of Welsh engineer Jason Taylor from Alicante airport on March 29, also during a Benidorm stag trip. His disappearance garnered international media attention, prompting friends and family to travel to Spain to assist in the search.

Jason Taylor Found Safe After Disappearance

After three days, Jason Taylor was located walking close to a beach with his suitcase and was safely reunited with his family. Despite his safe return, the circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear.

While some Spanish reports suggested an influencer discovered him, his family refuted this, requesting the public to disregard circulating rumors.

Jason Taylor went missing from Alicante-Elche airport around 8:30 am on Saturday, March 29, after being on a stag do with friends in Benidorm. CCTV footage showed him exiting the airport building after detaching from his group to resolve a problem with his boarding pass.

His case gained significant traction on social media, including ‘true crime’ themed TikTok accounts.

More than seventy-two hours after vanishing, he was found a few kilometers east of the airport’s main terminal.

Local newspaper Informacion.es reported that an unnamed influencer spotted Jason walking along a path near Urbanova beach, pulling his suitcase.

The report claimed the influencer, recognizing Jason from news reports, notified the family of his location. The family then reportedly informed the Spanish National Police, who located Jason and brought him back to the airport.

Family Denies Influencer’s Role in Discovery

However, Jason’s brother-in-law, Aaron Davies, challenged this account when speaking with the Spanish Eye. “No influencer found him; someone is attempting to gain notoriety and is being insensitive. They are being untruthful,” he stated.

Davies did not provide an alternate explanation for how Jason was found.

He added, “No one is interested in that. He has been found safe, end of story. There will be numerous rumors; disregard them.”

When questioned about the events and Jason’s wellbeing, his wife, Maria Taylor, was similarly reticent.

She simply stated, “Everything is fine. He is returning home. That’s all.”

The National Police neither confirmed nor denied either account of how Jason was found, but affirmed he was located in ‘good health’.

The police force informed MailOnline: “Jason was located near Alicante Airport. His family has taken charge of him. He was in good health. We cannot disclose further details.”
