Walton Goggins Reacts to SNL’s “White Lotus” Parody Amid Aimee Lou Wood Discord
Actor Walton Goggins has publicly expressed his support for “Saturday Night Live’s” (SNL) parody of “The White Lotus,” seemingly at odds with his co-star Aimee Lou Wood, who criticized the sketch. The “SNL” skit, which satirized the HBO series “The White Lotus,” has ignited a minor feud between Wood and the sketch comedy show, further amplified by Goggins’ reaction.
Goggins Applauds “SNL” Skit, Wood Deems it “Unfunny”
Goggins, aged 53, endorsed the “White Potus” sketch, a parody of “The White Lotus” that featured a portrayal of his co-star, Aimee Lou Wood. This public endorsement comes in the wake of rumors suggesting a rift between Goggins and Wood.
Wood, 31, voiced her disapproval of the “White Potus” sketch, labeling it “mean and unfunny.” However, Goggins responded to the NBC show’s Instagram post of the skit with a comment stating, “Hahahahahhahaha Amazzzingggg.”
Deleted Post and Further Praise
In a now-deleted Instagram Story post, Goggins shared the skit video, adding the caption “SMASHING.” He also lauded host Jon Hamm’s depiction of his “White Lotus” character, Rick, remarking, “Jon…I knew I was miscast.”

Goggins has not yet provided an explanation for deleting the post, which surfaced after Wood publicly criticized the “SNL” parody as “mean and unfunny.”
Wood’s Criticism and “SNL” Apology
“Such a shame because I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago,” the British actress expressed on her Instagram Stories on Sunday. She continued, “Yes, take the piss for sure – that’s what the show is about – but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?”
Following her initial reaction and sharing fan messages supporting her viewpoint, Wood claimed, “I’ve had apologies from SNL.”
Details of the Parody Sketch
Wood clarified that her criticism was not directed at Sarah Sherman, the “SNL” performer who parodied her in the sketch.
During the “White Potus” skit, a spoof of President Donald Trump and trade tariffs, Hamm, 54, played Robert F. Kennedy Jr., acting as Goggins’ character Rick, while Sherman portrayed Wood’s character, Chelsea. The sketch included jokes about Wood’s dental appearance.
Speculation of a Falling Out
Rumors of a potential fallout between Goggins and Wood have circulated since they portrayed lovers in the third season of the popular HBO series “The White Lotus.”
Despite previous positive public remarks about each other, the actors do not currently follow each other on Instagram and notably did not tag one another in social media tributes to their characters after the season finale on April 6.
Co-star Hints at On-Set Drama
Furthermore, online discussions among Reddit users pointed out that Goggins and Wood did not participate in joint press events to promote the latest season of “The White Lotus.”
Their fellow cast member, Jason Isaacs, who played Tim Ratliff, has indicated in several interviews that there was tension within the cast during the filming of the series in Thailand.
“Some people got very close, there were friendships that were made and friendships that were lost,” Isaacs, 61, stated in a previous interview with Vulture.
“They say in the show, ‘What happens in Thailand stays in Thailand,’ but there’s an off-screen ‘White Lotus’ as well, with fewer deaths but just as much drama,” Isaacs added, alluding to behind-the-scenes issues.
Isaacs Downplays Speculation
Isaacs also mentioned on SiriusXM’s “The Happy Hour” show that “arguments” occurred among the cast members but urged fans to refrain from excessive speculation regarding the rumored discord.
“Nobody has the slightest clue what they’re talking about,” he commented. “People who think they’re onto something, and it then gets magnified because of a thousand other people. Nobody has any clue.”
