Katy Perry Seeks Divine Guidance Ahead of Blue Origin Space Flight

Pop superstar Katy Perry is seemingly reassured about her upcoming journey to space with Blue Origin, interpreting recent events as signs of divine approval. The “Firework” singer, known for her spiritual inclinations, revealed that symbolic occurrences have solidified her confidence in participating in the historic all-female space mission.

Celestial Confirmations: Feather and Tortoise

In a brief video shared online, Perry explained the significance of two key symbols. “Today’s reminder that there is something bigger than me guiding my journey,” she wrote, referencing “Feather/Tortoise.”

The former “American Idol” judge elaborated, “You know that I’m always looking for little confirmations from the heavens, from my guides, from the angels, from my higher self.” She added, “You know when I ask for it and I am open to it, it’s pretty loud.”

The Feather Symbol on the Capsule

Perry recounted how her invitation to join the space voyage was met with an immediate sign. “So when I was invited to come on this voyage, I looked up at the capsule, and the capsule, on the very front of it, is the outline in the shape of a feather,” Perry detailed.

“And when I saw that it was like a total confirmation, because my mom has always called me Feather,” she disclosed, highlighting the personal resonance of the symbol.

Tortoise Capsule Name: Another Omen

Further solidifying her conviction, Perry described another significant event during space training. “There’s a lot to digest and we’re almost finished for the day and they show us the capsule, we’ve run simulations in a different capsule,” she stated, outlining their training regimen.

“And they reveal the name of the capsule and the capsule’s name is Tortoise,” she continued, expressing astonishment. “A wave – just the most energetic wave just shot through my body and I was like ‘What this capsule’s name is Tortoise?'”

Perry emphasized the unlikelihood of the coincidence: “My mom calls me two nicknames: Feather and Tortoise. What are the chances that I’m going to space on a rocket in a capsule with my symbol the feather called Tortoise?”

She further mentioned planning to share evidence of her mother’s use of the nickname “Tortoise.”

Embracing Destiny for Historic Spaceflight

“There are no coincidences and I’m just so grateful for these confirmations and so grateful that I feel like something bigger than me is steering the ship,” Perry concluded, embracing the perceived signs as validation for her space endeavor.

The upcoming 11-minute space flight will be a landmark event, featuring an all-female crew. Alongside Perry, the mission includes Lauren Sánchez, fiancée of Jeff Bezos, journalist Gayle King, civil rights advocate Amanda Nguyen, former rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn. This marks the first all-female space trip since 1963.

This Blue Origin New Shepherd program launch is scheduled for April 14 in West Texas. Notably, the crew will be wearing newly designed space suits created by Sánchez herself.

Space Suit Style and Design

Perry recently shared images from the launch preparations on social media, expressing “Forever in awe of the Universe and it’s alignment.” She was pictured in a custom blue jumpsuit displaying “Perry” and “Blue Origin” branding.

Sánchez discussed the design process of the bespoke, figure-enhancing blue suits with The New York Times. “Let’s reimagine the flight suit. Usually, you know, these suits are made for a man. Then they get tailored to fit a woman,” she explained, highlighting the shift towards women-centric design.

“I think the suits are elegant but they also bring a little spice to space,” Sánchez added, emphasizing the aesthetic considerations.

She collaborated with Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim of Monse and Oscar de la Renta on the space suit project, having previously worked with them on her 2024 Met Gala attire.

Garcia mentioned the meticulous design process, including considerations for undergarments, to which Sánchez playfully responded, “Skims!”

Sánchez concluded the interview with a lighthearted remark attributed to Perry: “We’re putting the ‘ass’ in astronaut!” adding a touch of humor to the anticipation for the pioneering space mission.
