Weezer’s Scott Shriner Performs at Coachella Following Wife’s Arrest

Weezer bassist Scott Shriner took the stage at Coachella on April 12, just days after his wife, Jillian Lauren, was involved in an “officer-involved shooting” and subsequently arrested on April 8, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The incident unfolded in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles and involved California Highway Patrol officers.

Details of the Incident

The Los Angeles Police Department reported that California Highway Patrol officers initially requested backup to apprehend three suspects connected to a hit-and-run incident who had fled into the Eagle Rock area. While securing the vicinity, law enforcement encountered Jillian Lauren, also known as Jillian Shriner legally, in a nearby residence and allegedly armed with a handgun.

Police Account of the Shooting

According to an official police statement released on April 9, officers instructed Shriner repeatedly to drop the handgun, but she reportedly refused to comply. The police report further stated, “Shriner then pointed the handgun at the officers, and an Officer-Involved Shooting occurred.”

Jillian Lauren Injured, Booked for Attempted Murder

Jillian Lauren, a true crime author married to Scott Shriner since 2005, sustained injuries from gunfire during the incident. She was promptly transported to a local medical facility, where she received treatment for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Investigation Findings

Authorities later clarified that “Shriner was uninvolved in the hit-and-run and lived at the residence where she was observed.” Despite this clarification, she was officially booked in absentia on charges of attempted murder.
