For enthusiasts of immersive career modes within racing games, the My Team feature in the F1 series, initially launched in 2020, presented a comprehensive experience in team management. Despite its popularity among players seeking long-term engagement beyond individual races, substantial enhancements to this mode have been infrequent. However, the upcoming edition will introduce a significant redesign of the My Team experience, alongside notable expansions to the Driver Career mode.
My Team 2.0: Enhanced Team Management Dynamics
Dubbed “My Team 2.0” by the developers at Codemasters, this iteration empowers players to assume the role of a team principal overseeing two drivers concurrently. This introduces new layers of interaction, including driver recruitment and the ongoing management of relationships with each driver. With two drivers under your purview, maintaining a positive team perception becomes crucial as you engage in contract negotiations utilizing the in-game system. Your performance contributes to owner experience points, enabling you to refine your skills and specialize in specific domains of team administration.
Upgraded Team HQ and Granular R&D System
Progressing through race events allows you to elevate your Fan Rating, reflecting public sentiment towards your team, primarily influenced by your performance in team rivalries. Between races, you will manage your operations at Team HQ, which has also undergone a significant overhaul. The refined facilities framework incorporates a more detailed upgrade system and a workforce management aspect. This necessitates strategic decisions to balance the advantages of a larger support staff against the associated financial implications of a sizable team.
Refined Research & Development and Sponsor Relations
Codemasters has restructured Research & Development into distinct systems, ensuring your strategic choices interplay with perks and upgrades acquired from Team HQ, encompassing both facility improvements and operational activities. Furthermore, a new loyalty and relationship-driven system governs sponsors. Nurturing enduring relationships with sponsors unlocks greater benefits and novel customization opportunities. Aligning with your sponsors’ core values and orientations will trigger unique events within the mode, adding depth and variability to your gameplay.
Driver Icons and Konnersport Integration
Both My Team and Driver Career modes will feature increased integration of Driver Icons. AI-controlled teams can now recruit these iconic drivers for the first time, with the option to enable or disable Icons individually. Moreover, both modes incorporate content from Konnersport, the fictional team originating from F1 25’s Braking Point narrative mode, and elements inspired by the forthcoming F1 movie starring Brad Pitt. It’s worth noting that the F1 movie content is largely exclusive to the Iconic Edition of the game.
