Texas Man Arrested for Allegedly Attacking Elderly Girlfriend with Hot Soup

Authorities in Texas have apprehended a 35-year-old man after he purportedly assaulted his 65-year-old girlfriend by pouring scalding soup on her. The incident, which reportedly resulted in severe third-degree burns, occurred because the suspect claimed the victim was “talking excessively.” This domestic violence case has led to multiple charges against the accused, including assault and harming an elderly individual. The incident highlights concerns around elder abuse and violence within intimate relationships in Texas.

Details of the Alleged Assault

Alexander Alton McDavid, 35, of Waco, now faces a range of charges following the alleged assault. These charges include resisting arrest, making terroristic threats against family or household members, assault causing bodily injury, continuous family violence, and injury to a senior citizen – specifically, his girlfriend.

Incident Timeline and Victim’s Account

According to an affidavit obtained by KWTX, the alleged attack occurred on February 28th at their shared residence. McDavid reportedly became enraged and attacked his girlfriend, who is three decades older than him, because he felt she was talking too much.

The affidavit states that he allegedly threw a plate of extremely hot soup, just removed from the microwave, at the victim. The hot soup caused third-degree burns to her right shoulder and forearm.

Delayed Reporting and Prior Convictions

The victim was allegedly unable to seek immediate assistance after the assault. Lacking access to a vehicle or a cell phone, she could not report the incident until several days later when she encountered law enforcement officials during a visit to a Social Security Administration office.
