French President Emmanuel Macron has called for robust measures should Russia persist in blocking initiatives aimed at securing a peace agreement in the ongoing war in Ukraine. This appeal comes as deadly Russian attacks on its neighboring nation continue relentlessly.

Macron: Russia’s Attacks Must Cease for Peace

In a statement released via the social media platform X on Sunday, President Macron asserted that Russia’s attacks “must come to an end.”

“A ceasefire is imperative as swiftly as possible,” Macron stated, adding, “and strong measures if Russia continues to attempt to stall and reject peace.”

Kyiv Strike Precedes Macron’s Declaration

Macron’s declaration follows a recent Russian strike on Kyiv on Sunday. The assault resulted in one fatality and left three individuals injured.

Escalating Russian Attacks Reported by Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported a significant increase in Russian aerial attacks over the past week. According to Zelenskyy, Russia launched:

  • Over 1,460 glide bombs
  • Approximately 670 drones
  • More than 30 missiles

against Ukraine in the preceding week alone.

Kryvyi Rih Missile Attack Resulted in Multiple Casualties

Tragically, a Russian missile attack on Kryvyi Rih on Friday resulted in the deaths of 18 people, including nine children, highlighting the devastating impact of the conflict.

Russia Rejects US Ceasefire Proposal

In contrast to Ukraine, Russia continues to reject a proposition from the United States for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire. Russia insists on the cessation of military aid to Kyiv, among other demands, as a prerequisite for de-escalation.
